Doing Things and Seeing Stuff

The remarkable and ordinary adventures of a girl spending the year in Ireland

Lazy start to the second day in Cork. We got up at 1 and lounged around in Joanne’s hammock for a while. After tea and brunch we decided to book tickets to France and search for an apartment. We are still working on that apartment thing

Our adventure starts in Cork. After a 9 hour Flight spent talking to a lovely Indian couple who had been married for 60 years and hearing their life story, I trekked through customs. After a grueling 30 minute wait, I had passed inspection. At baggage claim I found my Montanan comrades and together we headed out to find our fellow Irish geologists (Joanne, Helen, Laura, Noel). Turns out they found us. They helped me with my luggage and drove us all into the city. By the time I stepped out of the airport into Cork I was ready to fall asleep. But the lads would not have it. They drove us to Charles Fort and Kinsale and gave us a tour of St. Patrick’s street. It was a grand time, and all the exploring was very exciting. But despite my excitement and tenacity to stay awake, in between trips in the car I kept falling a sleep. Finally my narcoleptic tendencies were rewarded and after a day of hard traveling we returned to Joanne’s house. I crashed.
